Rather than twiddle our thumbs during Lockdown we decided to write some original material and record it as and when possible. This has resulted in a ten track CD of original material which has been professionally recorded, mixed and mastered so it should sound great ... honest!
C19 - 'The Long Road Home' is an Alfie Ibbotson's Popular Beat Combo project born out of the Great Pandemic of 2020/21 to fill the void caused by a lack of rehearsals and gigs. All songs were written by Paul with 'performance' in mind. Due to the restrictions placed upon us most of the songs were recorded piecemeal, apart from tracks 4 & 6 which were recorded 'live' in the studio between lockdowns. Paul, Ian and Tony recorded their individual parts later in the studio. All songs were recorded at Glen Eldon Studios, St Annes-on-Sea, England and later mixed and mastered by Dave Archer (the fifth Alfie) in Last Riff Studio, Cincinnati, USA. As well as producing the album Dave also programmed drums and percussion. Thank you Dave for a 'masterful' job!
Proceeds from the CD will be going to Alzheimer's Society, who fund support for sufferers and research into finding a cure for dementia. Many of you who know the band will understand why we have chosen this charity in particular.
The donation can be whatever you are prepared to give, perhaps bearing in mind that you will be getting a professionally-produced and packaged CD which is bound to turn into a collectors item in the fullness of time(!)
You can even request a copy and make a donation after you have listened to it. A dodgy marketing strategy you may think, but we Alfie boys are confident in our product! Yes, really!!
